I was recently going through some boxes of stuff to see if I could down-size some of my belongings when I came across a treasure…a real PERSONAL treasure. My wallet from Junior and Senior High school. You should see this stuff.
2 ticket stubs to my first Twins game. August 30, 1966. Hope you’re not reading this while your driving. Box seats between home and the 1st base dugout $3.00. Plus Sid Hartman would be proud; I’ve got the parking stub that promotes Murray’s “Silver Butter knife” steaks. I remember we won that game against the New Washington Senators 3 to 1.
Oh good gravy! My results for my behind the wheel driving test. Scored a 95. Two points off for making too fast of a right hand turn and 3 points for a rolling stop at a stop sign. Oops!
A Moorhead Spuds sports schedule for the 1972-73 school year. Jim Gotta’s football team played host to Fargo South Sept. 1st.
A report card for the 2nd semester at Moorhead High 4-B+’s a B and one C. Wasn’t the best at geometry.
A receipt for my 1974 Moorhead High Class ring. $41.95.
A ticket stub from the North Dakota International Karate Tournament Aug.16th, 1969 at the Fargo Civic. Don’t remember that one.
A slip with a bunch of numbers. Looks like a locker combination to me.
A receipt from 1971 from Nodak, for a Lefse grille…WHAT?
Membership card to the American Junior Bowling Congress dated 9-18-71.
Wow! Press pass for the Central Junior High School Cougar Call school paper. For those who may not know Central Junior High was located at the site of the current Hornbachers in Moorhead.
One of my friends at Central Junior High had his own checking account and for some reason he wrote me a check for one billion dollars. It’s in here…why I don’t know.
And endless clippings of Pro Wrestling match results that were held in Fargo and back in those days I attended all of them. Here it says some fan put a cigarette out on “Killer” Kowalski’s back. Crusher, Verne Gagne, Killer Kowalski, Mad Dog Vachon, even Kenny Jay and many more. They all made a stop to wrestle in Fargo.
I look at all of this and remember what a carefree time that was. A reminder of some of my friends I haven’t seen in more than 40 years. If I could turn back the hands of time and relive just
a week of the portion of my life…I’d do it in a heartbeat.
So there you have it. Now, what’s in your (old) wallet?
