What Are You?

NONE

Are you a Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal, Gay, Straight, Left or Right – or what? It seems as though you have to be something, or at least everyone else seems to think we each have to be labeled.

I used to hate that when I was filling in on the radio. Even though I told everyone that I was NOT a Democrat, Republican or Libertarian, I’d get a label, like “He’s a non-Democrat” or “He’s a redneck” or a “Tea Party, Conservative Independent.”

If you criticize Obama in front of a Democrat, chances are you are going to be considered a racist, anti-democratic or maybe even un-American. It used to be that everyone had a right to an opinion WITHOUT being put in a box with a label.

Here’s a great test for you… are you liberal or conservative?

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.

If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.

If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.

Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.

A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced (unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!).

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.

A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

A liberal will be mad at me for writing this it because he or she is “offended.”

This test was supposed to be a humorous view from one side, but it seems to hit home for some readers, doesn’t it?

Anyway, as we sit and wait for the collapse of the financial system or the shutdown of the American Government, we listen to the politicians blame each other for the problem. Democrats say the Republicans are to blame, and the Republicans say it’s the Democrats’ fault. You know what? THEY ARE BOTH CORRECT. (We do need a third party.)
