WestEnd Spine and Rehab along with the Arthritis Foundation will be having a back to school backpack check and fitting. This event is to teach parents and children proper mechanics in fitting a backpack that will assist in good posture. Backpacks are a necessity of child’s everyday life during the school; however, when not used or fitted properly can lead to poor posture, headaches, backaches, and soreness.

Ted Dintersmith, venture capitalist and 21st century education advocate, will be joining the Metro education community to host a FREE screening of his new edu-documentary called “Most Likely to Succeed” which received critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film highlights how to meet the needs of 21st century learners and foster a culture in education that will lead to success in college and career. Fall Festival:

German Culture Day:

German Culture Day at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is a fun-filled day for the whole family. The event will highlight a variety of performers, craftspeople, food, traditional arts, craft beer, and kid’s activities all focusing on German Culture. The day would not be complete without some festive music from Dale Dahmen and the Beats and Kris and the Riverbend Dutchmen. Both groups blend up-tempo beats with traditional styles. The food will be another highlight. Our own Kelly Wambach has prepared a full German menu, sure to please. Menu items will, of course, include sauerkraut and hearty pork chops, and you can wash it all down with some German brews.

The Pumpkin Patch:

Colleen Raye brings you along on a journey through Patsy Cline’s life and music. With the help of a four-piece piece country music band, Colleen sings song after song recorded by Patsy Cline while interspersing tidbits about Patsy’s life and music. Although Patsy Cline’s life was somewhat tragic, Colleen presents her story with a light-hearted air, natural charisma and a sense of humor. For Patsy Cline fans, this show is a “must see.” Moreover, if you’re not a Patsy Cline fan, you will be by the end of the show. Combining great music, great singing, and loads of entertainment, Colleen Raye’s “Tribute to Patsy Cline” is a completely satisfying evening.

MSU Moorhead offers tour of archaeology of the Regional Science Center

MSU Moorhead’s Department of Anthropology and Earth Science is offering a tour of archaeology of the Regional Science Center on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tour is being hosted in association with Minnesota Archaeology Week, an annual event to celebrate the archaeological understanding of Minnesota’s past.

Open to the public, the tour will explore the archeological history and significance of the Regional Science Center, including the discovery this summer of bison bones and dart tips left behind by native people that hunted there 500 to 8,000 years ago. Professor George Holley and three MSUM undergraduate students uncovered these artifacts in early August.
