spring commencement set for May 5

The University of North Dakota School of Law will hold its spring commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 5, in the Chester Fritz Auditorium on campus. Seventy-eight candidates are eligible to receive juris doctor degrees.

Four graduates will receive the first certificates bestowed under the school’s Indian Law Certificate Program. It began in spring 2011 and was the first program of its kind at UND Law.

Students fulfilling program requirements will receive a certificate of acknowledgment, a notation of completion of the program on their transcript, and the opportunity to signal their commitment to and command of an increasingly important and expanding area of law. Law students were required to take 17 credits in classes related to Indian law and tribal law.

North Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle, a UND Law School graduate, will deliver the commencement address. Representing the North Dakota State Board of Higher education at the ceremony will be board President Grant Shaft.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is coming to Grand Forks

with a tentative opening sometime in June.

Owners, Josh and Katie Becker will be opening the well know restaurant at the corner of DeMers and South Washington Street, otherwise known as the busiest intersection in North Dakota.

Serving authentic Texas Style Barbecue Dickey’s will be open from 11am – 9pm.

Catering services will be offered as well, along with their great menu choices.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is well known in the southern half of the country and it’s a pleasure to welcome them to Grand Forks. Dickey’s motto is “Were passionate about the art of great barbecue” Yummmyyy!
