Today is a great day to do business in Moorhead
“I am not a politician – I am an entrepreneur,” said Brian Gramer, candidate for Minnesota State Representative 4A. At the most recent “Let’s Talk Business” breakfast, he stated that if elected, he promises to bring a business viewpoint to the Capital for the citizens of District 4A. This district includes Moorhead and Oakport Township. “It is a viewpoint that has been missing from the conversation and from District 4A for the past two years.”
Gramer shared that he grew up very modestly in Moorhead. Gramer’s dad was going to Moorhead State and his mom was finishing her nursing degree at Wahpeton while also working and raising two young boys. They lived in the Romkey Park area near Moorhead State in a two-bedroom apartment, later they moved into a mobile home by the Tastee Freeze.
“I am concerned about the economy of Moorhead and how it impacts all of our citizens,” stated Gramer. He does not agree with the present tax policies in Moorhead or in Minnesota explaining that the current policies are outdated. Gramer believes that the current policies don’t allow the citizens of Moorhead and Oakport Township to maximize their revenues that are needed to help citizens thrive. The current district poverty rate of 12.3% is unacceptable as well as the average household income of $41,000, which is below the state average. He added that there are only two ways to increase revenues, taxes or economic growth. “We tried taxes without much success, let’s focus on increasing growth.”
