Today is a great day to business in Moorhead
Eventide on Eighth
“From Mayberry to the Marriot describes the progress Eventide on Eighth has experienced over the year,” explained Mark Bertilrud, Executive Director. Eventide on Eighth has always provided exceptional service and compassionate care to seniors and their families. With the many improvements since 1951, Eventide on Eighth is now even better positioned to continue providing excellent senior services for today and for tomorrow.
Bertilrud expressed that it was the great opportunity to join a first class organization, which led to his return to aging services and to his home state of Minnesota. Becoming a part of the Eventide organization, he added, was a blessing as it gave him the opportunity to utilize his skills and to be a part of a leadership team dedicated to quality, service excellence, and company growth.
Eventide’s four locations in the Moorhead Fargo area offer a broad range of housing and personalized care options. The facilities include skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living services to approximately 475 residents. The planned Fargo location is scheduled to open in the spring of 2015. In addition, a facility in Devils Lake, ND has been added to the lineup.
The plans for a Minnesota’s $16 million dollar facility are on hold because of the uncertainty of reimbursements from the state of Minnesota. Poor Medicaid funding and the related Rate Equalization in Minnesota have had a devastating impact not only on Eventide, but also on the industry statewide. Bertilrud explained that the difference in Medicaid payments from Minnesota vs. North Dakota for the same level of care ranges from an average of $50 on the lower end of care to $166 on the higher end: Per resident – per day makes long term planning very difficult. Minnesota is in the top five states with a gap of nearly $30 per resident- per day.
However, even with the financial challenges, Eventide will continue its commitment in the Moorhead community with substantial updates to their physical structure at Eventide on Eighth. Over the past two years, the completion of the Haugo Wellness Center, modifications to resident rooms and extensive changes to common areas have resulted in additional capital investment of nearly $3 million. Bertilrud stated that Eventide’s commitment to provide first-class aging services to seniors in the greater Moorhead area is well established and it will continue for many years to come.
