With the longest day of the year just past, we are clearly in summer in our community. Weekends are quieter because people are at the lakes, and the week days are becoming our local summer fun time in Moorhead. As I write this, I’m looking forward to our second RiverArts time. It’s every other Tuesday at Davies Park from 5:30 to 8PM. Each one includes horse drawn carriage rides, vendors, food, hands on activities for all ages and a concert. The first RiverArts had well over 1,000 in attendance, and we had a great time with Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome. June 24, the feature act is Penny and Pals, mix that with Games Galore Inflatable games, and I predict it will be a blast. If you missed it, put July 8th, 22nd and August 12th on your calendar for more RiverArts.
This Thursday, June 26 is our Watermelon Festival at Gooseberry Park, from 2-4PM. It has tons of family fun. June 25 and 26 is the Watercolor Society Fine Arts Show (formerly 8th Street Art Show), which is my favorite Art sale for our local artists. It’s from 10am to 8PM at the Moorhead Center Mall for the first time this year, so no parking issues, no weather issues, and our local artists love it and will be out in full force. And then June 26/ 27 is the 3th Annual Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival and Midwest Viking Festival at the Hjemkomst Center. So, it’s a full fun packed week. I hope you have an opportunity to hit one or two. I know I will be at all of them. It’s a really fun time to be Mayor in Moorhead.
