This was served at a potluck meeting that I attended a few months ago. Stromboli is a nice change from serving sandwiches for a group, but does take a little advance preparation. This can be made ahead of time; refrigerate and bake just before serving to your guests. It smells wonderful while baking as the bread dough and spices mingle together. I think one could use whatever meats and cheeses that you would want to serve.
Stromboli
1/2 Cup vegetable oil
1 Teaspoon oregano
1 Teaspoon garlic powder
1 Loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1/2 Pound sliced ham
1/2 Pound sliced pepperoni
8 Ounces grated Mozzarella cheese
Mix together oil and spices and set aside. Place one sheet of foil on jelly roll pan. Brush foil with oil mixture. Flatten and stretch the bread dough to fit the jelly roll pan. Brush dough with oil mixture. Layer the ham, pepperoni and cheese on the dough and keep stretching the dough out; as it wants to shrink. Roll the dough up like a jelly roll and place the seam on the bottom. Fold ends in under the bread. Brush with oil mixture. Fold the foil up around the bread loosely. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Open foil completely after the first 15 minutes and brush with oil mixture. Finish baking for another 15 minutes and brush with oil mixture when done. Let sit a few minute, slice and serve warm.
