Moorhead High School boys hockey team members read to Moorhead kindergartners last month as part of a program developed by Jon Ammerman, boys hockey head coach. The Spud hockey readers served as role models for reading.
Ammerman, a social studies teacher at Moorhead High School, wanted the student-athletes to be active community members and role models for elementary students in the district. “It is incredibly important for our players to see how impactful they can be and to reinforce the importance of reading,” he said.
