Small Business Saturday

“Now, therefore, I, Del Rae Williams, Mayor of the City of Moorhead, do hereby proclaim November 29, 2014 as: “Small Business Saturday” in the City of Moorhead and encourage all residents to recognize and support local small merchants within our community by shopping these establishments on the Saturday following Thanksgiving.”

What are your favorite local small businesses? There are tons of spectacular small businesses in our community. Check out your favorites, and make a point of trying one or two you’ve never been to this week. Truth be told, it’s good to shop local whenever we shop. Besides the personal benefit of great products, there is a multiplier benefit for our community when our money stays in the community. More money that stays in our community means a more vibrant community. It’s a win-win for us. One of the things that I’ve enjoyed in the past year has been getting to know more of the owners and managers of our local businesses. They have an energy and attitude about Moorhead that is contagious. At the Holiday Parade, our Moorhead Business Association is going to introduce their campaign of Moorhead pride. Thanks, MBA! We are proud of you too. Look for ‘your’ opportunity to express Moorhead pride also… coming to you only from our local, small businesses.
