Senior Safety Issues To Be Explored Sept. 12

Valley Triad, a collaboration of first responders and agencies working with older residents, is sponsoriing a free morning seminar on Thursday, Sept. 12. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hjemkomst Center, and includes lunch.
The Senior Safety Academy focuses on four issues of special interest: opioid drugs, how ambulance calls work, elder abuse, and the importance of of supporting yourself and others through life’s up and downs.
Annabel DuFault of Clay County Public Health and her Cass counterpart, Robyn Litke Sall, present the first session at 9:15. They’ll discuss responding to opioid overdose and administration of the drug Narcan.
The second presentation is by Kristi Engelstad of Sanford Ambulance, who plans to offer information about ambulance calls and procedures.
Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson, who works with the Minnesota Elder Justice Center, discusses how to recognize and report elder abuse at 11:45.
The final segment by Wendy Tabor-Buth of Ethosos Home Health Care and Hospice explores the imporance of building relationships, seeking and offering support throughout the elder years.
