Local Finns celebrated 100 years of Finnish independence with Sauna Festivaali, a free, two-day sauna festival on April 28 and 29. The event, held at Viking Ship Park, featured a short cultural program, lawn games, food and music.
The main attraction was a sauna session in a mobile sauna, including Sisu, the TravelingSauna, which is touring the country in celebration of Finland’s centennial. Sauna Festivaali was produced by The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, Log the Sauna, Red River Finns, Folkways, and Nordic Culture Clubs- Scandinavian Festival.
