Question: Someone said that it is not necessary to have a special license to operate a trike (three-wheeled motorcycle) or does one still have to have a motorcycle endorsement?

NONE

Answer: In order to operate a “trike” (three-wheeled motorcycle), a person DOES NEED a “special permit” in order to operate it. A person would need to take the same tests as you would on a two-wheeled motorcycle. Meaning, you would need to take the same “written test”, and “skills test”. The only difference is that during the skills test you would use your “trike”. Upon successful completion with a “trike”, you are not actually given a full “motorcycle endorsement”, but on your restrictions you would be held to “also valid for 3 wheel motorcycles”. Now in the same circumstance, but using a “two-wheeled motorcycle” for the skills test and upon successful completion, you would have the full “motorcycle endorsement” and able to operate either a “two” or “three” wheeled motorcycle.
