Grand Forks, ND– Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the Columbia Road Overpass starting Monday, June 2, 2014. The lane closure is due to routine repairs to the deck and replacement of a bridge bearing on the east side of the bridge deck. Traffic delays are likely, especially during morning and evening rush hours. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes to avoid delays.

Some of the work will take place underneath the bridge, which may not be evident to those using the overpass.

The construction is scheduled to take approximately 40 days to complete, weather permitting.

-Holiday Gas Station, 101 N. University Dr.—1st fail in 12-month period

Failed in West Fargo:

-Eagle Run Crossing, 3210 Sheyenne St.—1st fail in a 12-month period

Penalties in Fargo and West Fargo are as follows:

The 1st failure in a one year time period – one year probation

The 2nd failure in a one year time period – 3 day suspension of the tobacco license

The 3rd failure in a one year time period – 10 day suspension of the tobacco license

Holly Scott, tobacco prevention coordinator for Fargo Cass Public Health says, “Tobacco compliance checks are not a sting operation. Rather, they are an opportunity for businesses to make sure they’re following the law and not selling any tobacco product to a minor. In Fargo and West Fargo, that means also not selling electronic cigarettes to a minor.”

The checks are conducted quarterly with all licensed tobacco retailers in both cities. Licensed tobacco retailers in Cass County are checked once per year through a similar partnership with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
