The Woodlands and Plains Powwow Saturday drew hundreds of dancers and more than 2,000 spectators to the 31st annual celebration of Indigenous traditions and culture.
Termed an intercampus collaboration, the event is supported by all five higher education campuses in Moorhead and Fargo — Concordia College (where the powwow is held), Minnesota State University Moorhead, M State, North Dakota State University and the North Dakota State College of Science.
Theme of this year’s powwow was “Generational Resilience.” In the program, Anne Annette says, “Not only have we survived radical changes … but we thrive and perpetuate some of the richest and longest-living cultures on Turtle Island. Indigenous wisdom and ancestral knowledge culminate in generational resilience, enabling us to share our culture and traditions with the next seven generations.”
