Popcorn Bars

Popcorn bars have been a favorite holiday treat of our family for many years. This is easier to make than popcorn balls and keep for quite a few weeks in a covered container. Un-wrapping the caramels is the biggest chore in making these bars. You can use microwave popcorn or purchase already popped corn in a large package. Air popped popcorn works well, too. When I make these for Christmas, I use red and green M&M’s; for fall I will purchase the autumn colored M&M’s. My wish is for you all to have a peaceful and joyous Christmas with loved ones.

Popcorn Bars

10 Cups popcorn

20 Caramels

1 10 oz. bag marshmallows

1 Cup margarine or butter

1/2-3/4 Package of plain M&M’s (about 1 cup)

1/2 Jar of dry roasted peanuts (about 1 cup)

Melt butter, caramels and marshmallow together and stir well to blend. Pour this mixture over the popcorn, peanuts and M&M’s in a large bowl. Stir and mix well, pour into a well-buttered 9×13 pan and press down firmly. Cool and cut into bars.
