Krabbenhoft is as lifelong Clay County resident. He farmed south of Moorhead on the family farm until 1990. He then moved to south Moorhead and has been a Fargo-Moorhead Realtor for the past 36 years. He is married to Carol Krabbenhoft and they have two married daughters and five grandchildren.
As Clay County Commissioner, his assigned committees and duties focus heavily on public and mental health, homelessness, food commission, along with various environmental issues. He is a board member on the Historical Cultural Society of Clay County and Lakes & Prairie Community Action Partnership.
Krabbenhoft has a lifetime of local and state engagement and leadership roles. For 37 years, he was elected to the Clay Soil and Water Conservation District Board. During his last term, he served as President of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, which presides over 88 Minnesota SWCDs. He has served over the last 25 years on multiple committees with Clay County and the City of Moorhead.
As a FM Realtor, serving on the Minnesota Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee, he is actively involved in developing policy for the Minnesota Legislature towards affordability and housing for all while protecting private property rights.
Serving as a Clay County Commissioner has truly been an honor. Clay County is the fastest growing county outside of the metropolitan area, while having the 6th lowest tax levy per capita of the state’s 87 counties. The work that surrounds Clay County is remarkable and fulfilling. With its 640 employees, Clay County is a model to many other counties throughout the State with continual results of governing while displaying efficiency, effectiveness, and fiscal responsibility.
