City leaders, library supporters and enthusiastic Moorheaders signed their names to the final beam to go up on The Loop, the new community center and regional library under construction at Center Avenue and Fourth Street North. The autograph session made history from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, adding their own historic touches to the new building.
Ward 3 council member Lisa Borgen has been part of the facility’s progress since 2023, when she led the Yes 56560 committee that led to approval of the half-cent city sales tax that funds the majority of the building’s cost. “Finally the people of Moorhead can see for themselves that our plans are coming to fruition. It’s surreal,” she said.
A topping-off ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, signifies the completion of the structural phase of The Loop, as the building has been called.
