Cass County Senior Flu Shot Clinics Scheduled
Fargo Cass Public Health will be holding senior citizen flu shot clinics throughout Cass County during the month of September.
FluMist will not be available at these clinics.
The cost of the flu shot this year is $33.00. Midicare and Blue Cross/
Blue Shield will be billed, so please remember to bring insurance cards.

HERO donating medical supplies
Globus Relief will be coming to HERO of Fargo Friday (Sept. 16) to pick up pallets of medical supplies.
HERO, Healthcare Equipment Recycling Organization, receives donations of medical equipment and supplies daily from individuals, agencies, and local hospitals. After a few months, the warehouse is stocked with pallets,
weighing about 400 pounds each, full of medical supplies such as linens, surgical gowns and drapes, sutures, and many other items.
When the warehouse is full, it is difficult to find space to place incoming donations, according to HERO officials. Globus Relief be picking up 28-plus pallets from the HERO warehouse.
HERO partners with over 100 agencies and organizations. Globus Relief, based in Salt Lake City, distributes humanitarian supplies throughout the world.

Soup and bread supper tonight
The F-M Dorothy Day House of Hospitality Inc. is hosting a soup and bread supper tonight (Sept.15) from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead.
The public is invited to enjoy delicious soup and bread from area restaurants and bakeries, such as HoDo and Breadsmith, at the annual fundraiser.
For $10 ($5 for those under 12) guests receive a hand-painted ceramic bowl and all-you-can-eat soup and bread. A silent auction will be held with great items, like a notebook computer, a zoo package, and gym memberships, to bid on.
The event is sponsored by Fargo-Moorhead businesses, and all proceeds will go toward the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality’s emergency shelter and food pantry programs.
As Dorothy Day said, “It’s not about the soup. It’s why we serve the soup.”
The F-M Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving the homeless and hungry; programs include an emergency shelter and two food pantries. The organization helped 24 men move into their own apartments this year and distributed 609,608 pounds of food to 9,391 families in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Quilt display coming to Hjemkomst
Quilt National ’09, an international juried exhibition of innovative contemporary art quilts, opens at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead with a reception on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2 – 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Quilt National ’09 is composed of 87 innovative works, 30 of which will be on display at the Hjemkomst Center, created by artists from 25 states and 13 foreign countries. Long considered the most prestigious forum by the art quilt world, Quilt National attracts visitors from across the United States and around the world. The exhibit is on display through Nov. 13, 2011.
Sponsors include the Quilters’ Guild of North Dakota and Minnesota Quilters. It is funded in part by the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation. This exhibit is produced and circulated by the The Dairy Barn Arts Center, Athens, Ohio.
