Moorhead has the distinct pleasure in owning our own utilities. What does that mean for us? That means we, as citizens, are like the stockholders and the users in one. We benefit from lower property taxes by an annual transfer, and we benefit from a utility company that is has a direct citizen focus. In comparison to surrounding utilities, our rates have been historically lower; we have less outages, and when we have outages, they are for a shorter period. Moorhead Public Service, “connecting our community” is more than a slogan.

Moorhead Public Service also gives us dependably good water. We won the Best Tasting Water in Minnesota Award in 2009 and 2010, and we regularly rate high in the competition. Moorhead is also proactive in the move to 25% sustainability by 2025. This fall, look for information about how you can be part of a Solar Garden.
