On a temperate Monday evening, students gathered on Moorhead High School’s field for a live-streamed homecoming coronation event. With only a small group of family in attendance, Spud spectators were able to watch the evening from their living room thanks to Spuds TV.
Jack Newcomb and Ally Peters were named Moorhead High School’s homecoming king and queen at coronation on Oct. 5.

Queen Ally Peters is on varsity soccer and apollo orchestra. A fun fact about Peters is that she shares a birthday with her older sister. Leadership to her is putting others in front of yourself and doing the right thing even if it’s hard. She is committed to Minnesota State University of Moorhead to play soccer and study education. Peter’s advice for future spuds is to not procrastinate schoolwork and join activities you enjoy.
King Jack Newcomb is involved with vocal jazz, weight lifting, football, wrestling, track, cross country and choir. Newcomb plans on taking a force recon contract with the Marines and completing his undergraduate degree while serving in active-duty military for five years. He then plans to transfer to Navy Seals and later commission as an officer. His proudest high school memory is from his junior year of football as he enjoyed their successful season and teammate relationships. Newcomb’s advice for future spuds is to have a relentless pursuit of greatness and strive to detest mediocrity.
