“Escanaba in Da Moonlight” Performance:

Hunting season is about to open in Escanaba and the boys have gathered to prep for their next adventure. In the meanwhile, there are stories to be told. But here’s a hunting story to out-do all hunting stories, a story you will never forget even if you want to! WARNING: Crude humor crossing. For Bras on Broadway event, bring in a bra to decorate, bling provided, also bring in bras to add to the Bras on Broadway chain that will be strung across Broadway this year, this is a family friendly event with root beer floats, cupcakes, popcorn, wine and beer, dance to Heart and Soul.

Moby-Dick, The Opera:

With the Solien exhibition, Fargo-Moorhead Opera will present the Midwest premiere of scenes from the new opera, Moby-Dick. Written by the preeminent opera composer of today, Jake Heggie, the opera tells the famous story with powerful, lush music.

“The Importance of Being Earnest” Performance:

Location: Concordia Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre Lab

Cost: Free to Concordia students, alumni, faculty and staff, and to prospective students and their families. Adult tickets are $10, and tickets for seniors and non-Concordia students are $5.

“The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde. Directed by Christian Boy.

“Red” Performance:

Location: Theatre B at 716 Main Ave in Fargo

A moving and compelling account of one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, Mark Rothko, whose struggle to accept his growing riches and praise became his ultimate undoing.

“Three Days of Rain” Performance:

Location: Burtness Theatre at UND in Grand Forks

Three Days of Rain is a play that spans the decades and tells the story of a family putting together the pieces of the past. Walker Janeway has been missing for a year and reappears in his sister’s life on the day of their father’s funeral. Walker and his Sister, Nan, struggle with the unknowns of the past while dealing with the grief of the present. Act II travels back to the moment that changed history for Walker and Nan’s parents and made their work legendary.

“The Laramie Project” Performance:

41st Annual East Grand Forks Arts & Crafts Fair:

Location: VFW Arena at 711 3rd St SE in East Grand Forks

Date: October 5 – 6

Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday, 11:00am – 4:00pm on Sunday

Cost: $2 per person, 6 and Under Free

The area’s largest craft show returns for its 41st year! Both venues – EGF Civic Auditorium and VFW Arena – will be filled with over a hundred vendors selling top quality arts and crafts. There will also be a free shuttle bus running between the two locations. Please NO strollers or pets.

Happy Harry´s Beer and Bacon Festival:

Location: Alerus Center in Grand Forks

Cost: $15 for General Admission, $35 for the VIP Experience

Plans call for 40 – 60 different beers to be available for tasting. Local restaurants will be able to compete in the bacon dish competition. Live music, a VIP experience, a Bacon Art (BArt) contest, bacon eating contest and other entertainment features are also planned.

Scott Shickler, coauthor of The 7 Mindsets to Live Your Ultimate Life, will hold a book signing from 1:00-2:00. Greater Grand Forks Symphony Season Opener Featuring Timothy Fain:

Our featured soloist, Timothy Fain, is the violinist performing the soundtrack of the Blockbuster hit, Black Swan. Now he joins the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra for one special night to perform Mendelssohn’s, Violin Concerto–a night when we open the 2013-14 season, “The Russian Tour.” Also to be performed by the Symphony: Rimsky-Korsakov’s Introduction & Cortege from Le Coq D’or and Borodin’s Symphony No.1 & Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor.

The “Not So Silent” Auction is a fundraiser supporting the Lake Agassiz Regional Library System. Take part in an afternoon of fall fun as the West Fargo Park District hosts an Autumn Pumpkin Party. Activities will include pumpkin painting, fall crafts and games, inflatable games and refreshments. Take time to “Build a Scarecrow.” You provide the creativity, clothes and accessories. The park district will provide the straw and the twine. Choose your favorite pumpkin and decorate for $4.00.

Jazz Into Fall Concerts:

Minnesota Crime Wave:

Established in the fall of 2000, the Crime Wave consists of mystery writers Ellen Hart, Carl Brookins, and William Kent Krueger. Between them they have published more than thirty novels and have received nearly two dozen local, regional, and national awards for their writing. They have toured the country several times, presenting over a hundred events and workshops at libraries, bookstores, conferences, and book festivals.
