This week’s theme is “wacky weather” at the library and the Free Thursday Movie event for kids and families is a screening of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (rated PG). Free popcorn will be served.
10th Annual Salute to America:

Join us for patriotic celebrating complete with sing-alongs, stories of the history of our favorite patriotic songs, and a Clog Dancing Troupe performance. We’ll have the organ and piano rolling with Bill Tweten and Cheryl Rostad at the helm. There will be a tribute to those who have served and are currently serving in the US Military.
Free-will donation to Wounded Warrior Project & Heart Spring’s Veterans Program.
Fourth of July Celebration:
Location: Minnesota State University Moorhead

Activities take place at and around Nemzek Stadium on 17th St. between 6th and 9th Ave. S. Kids’ activities include inflatable games and a bike parade. The Lake Agassiz Concert Band and the Front Fenders will provide the evening’s musical entertainment. Concessions are offered by the MSUM Athletics Department. The fireworks display begins at 10:30 p.m.
Sertoma 4thFun & Fireworks:
Location: Town Square at Demers Ave. & N. 3rdSt. in Grand Forks

This classic silent film series opens with “It,” in which Clara Bow plays Betty Lou, a shopgirl who has designs on Cyrus Waltham, the handsome owner of the department store where she works. She gets his attention, but the romance cools when a newspaper reporter mistakenly writes a story depicting Betty Lou as an unwed mother.
Pre-show organ music performed by Red River Chapter members of the American Theatre Organ Society begins at 7:15 p.m.
“Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings” Exhibit:

Our new exhibit in the Rotating Exhibit Gallery “Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings,” on loan from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting July 10, 2014 from 4:00-6:00pm.

Ellingson Benefit:
Location: East Grand Forks Eagles Club

A spaghetti supper and silent auction will be held for Sgt. Odney Ellingson, a retired police officer from the East Grand Forks Police Department who was recently diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. All proceeds will benefit the Ellingson family.
Community Block Party:

Meet your neighbors at this fun family event. Sing your favorite karaoke song, play on inflatable games, take home a craft project and get your face painted. Enjoy free food while supplies lasts.
RiverArts:
Location: Memorial Park in Moorhead

Cost: Free
Horse drawn wagon rides, art and craft vendors, food, and hands-on activities. Jacked Up will perform and there will be inflatable games by Games Galore.
NDMOA Summer Concerts in the Garden:
Location: North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks

Cost: Free
Concerts in the Garden is a casual, outdoor event featuring musicians from across the country. In addition to great music, guests can enjoy local grass-fed hamburgers, bratwursts, various salads, root beer floats, beer and wine. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved into the Museum’s Galleries. July 8 feature Dess.
Gooseberry Park Players:

Phelps Mill Festival Celebrating 30 Years!
Come join us at the annual Phelps Mill Festival. The Phelps Mill Festival is held annually on the 2nd weekend of July, July 12 and 13, 2014. The Festival features fine artist and crafters from around the USA. Each exhibitor is handpicked by a panel of jurors to ensure quality and originality for the show. From paintings and prints, to jewelry and apparel, everyone will find something special to take home with them.
