Freeze-thaw cycle leads to pothole season
FARGO, N.D. (March 6, 2015) – The weather forecast is calling for the spring freeze-thaw cycle to begin with below freezing temperatures at night and above freezing temperatures during the day. This will result in increased potholes during the seasonal transition from winter to spring. Potholes are created by water seeping into cracks in the pavement and freezing which expands the cracks and results in damage to the pavement. Fargo Public Works is monitoring streets and will be filling potholes as quickly as possible, as weather allows. The public can assist the department by reporting potholes online at www.cityoffargo.com/potholes. These areas will then be added to the pothole repair schedule.
