Letter from Moorhead Public Schools’ Superintendent

Dear Moorhead Community,
As you may know, the Capital Projects Levy did not pass in the recent election. While this outcome is not what we had hoped, I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who engaged with us throughout this process. Your participation and feedback continue to be invaluable as we plan for the future of our schools and community.
Strong schools are foundational to a thriving community. Over the past several years, Moorhead Area Public Schools has carefully managed resources, balancing the needs of our growing student population without increasing operating taxes. Despite our best efforts, the result of this vote now requires us to prepare for difficult adjustments in order to meet our budget requirements for the coming school year and beyond.
In the weeks ahead, we will work with the School Board to carefully examine where we can make necessary cuts, knowing that these adjustments will impact both programs and services that are central to our mission of serving every student. Our immediate task is to identify budget changes that address this funding gap while doing everything possible to uphold the quality of education our students deserve.
While the levy did not pass, our commitment to serve every student with excellence is unwavering. We will continue to engage with the community on how to support our schools and secure a bright future for our students.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our schools and community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Brandon Lunak,
Superintendent
