Leister Custom Machining, a 10-year-old manufacturer of precision-machined parts, is building a 20,000-square-foot facility in Moorhead’s MCCARA Industrial Park. The company plans to consolidate 40 full-time employees in its new headquarters at 4408 24th Ave. S. Its staff is now split between Horace, North Dakota, and Hawley, Minnesota.
On Monday, the Moorhead City Council granted a five-year property tax exemption for the first phase of the project. Construction is projected to begin in March, with completion next October. The firm plans to double its space with a second phase of construction within the next five years.
The Leister firm manufactures precision-machined parts using computer-aided machining software, CNC milling, precision and 3D machining, short productions runs, prototypes, and CAD to CAM. Its products are sold to several industries including agriculture, pharmaceutical packaging and aerospace. Nate Leister established the company in Hawley, his home town, in 2014.
Phase I of Leister’s plan is expected to be valued at $1,900,000 when complete. The property tax exemption is estimated to total $152,000.
