Members of the Moorhead Police and Clay and Becker County Sheriffs departments gathered at Farmstead Living April 19 to thank owner Roger Erickson for his support of their forces’ canine law enforcement programs.
Erickson has provided funding for the departments to buy four trained K-9s – two for the MPD, one for Clay County and one for Becker County.
Erickson called his contribution of the trained dogs – purchased from Slovakia and the Czech Republic for $10,000 to $15,000 each – a “really good cause.” He added, “It’s a way to show the officers that their community is behind them.”
MPD Officer Brett Musich brought K-9 Dex to the event. Dex replaced the late K-9 Zeke, whom Erickson also donated to the department. K-9 Durman and his handler, Becker County Deputy Ben Bruce, were also on hand, along with Clay County Deputy Zach Johnson, K-9 Kash’s handler.
Moorhead Police Chief Shannon Moore thanked Erickson for his support of the city’s program, enabling the department to benefit from the skills of the four-legged crime fighters.
