“Work hard, play hard, answer the bell,” is Jeremy Gregoire’s motto. As the general manager and co-owner with his brother, Jeff, the Gregoire brothers purchased Bert’s Truck Equipment from their dad, Kent, in 2012. “I grew up around the business. Dad worked every day and he allowed us to ‘help out’. Jeremey worked part time through high school and college in the family business and began full time in 1995. He and his sister Alisha and brothers Jason and Jeff have learned firsthand the importance of dedication, hard work, and community.
Jeremy Gregoire enjoys the everyday challenge of helping people find solutions for their work trucks. The company deals with a large variety of trucks and unique requirements for their customers, so they often create something new that requires different ideas and concepts. With a sense of accomplishment and pride, Gregoire explained that Bert’s Truck Equipment of Moorhead currently has over 28,000 square feet of shop and office space, including a showroom and a complete parts department, a new state of the art paint booth, and 12,000 square feet of warehouse space. More importantly than the buildings is knowing that Bert’s Truck Equipment is a family owned business with a friendly environment for customers to complete their one-stop truck equipment needs. He is quick to point out that the company’s success is the result of the 32 full-time dedicated employees who are on the frontlines serving the customers. Gregoire stated that if one wants to build a great business, people really do matter most.
Gregoire has a firm understanding of the area and customers’ needs. He grew up in Dilworth and graduated from Moorhead High School. He attended MSUM and graduated with a business management degree in 2,000. Gregoire also attended the United States Air Force Academy. The program, which is guided by the Air Force’s core values of “Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do,” has served Gregoire in both his professional and personal life. Giving back to his community is important to him, and Gregoire has served on several boards including the Moorhead Country Club and Moorhead Youth Hockey. Gregoire and his wife, Heidi, live in Moorhead and are busy raising their 3 children, Maccoy (13), Martan (11), and Maddox (5) who are active in sports, tae kwon do, and music. He shared that they are blessed that Heidi has the opportunity to spend time at home with their children.
The family business was established in 1939 by Bert Gregoire in an old bus shop in downtown Grand Forks. Bert worked out of this shop until 1958 when he relocated the business to Highway 2 in East Grand Forks. In 1969, Lloyd Gregoire, Bert’s son, purchased the business and continued to expand with additions to the shop, warehouse space, a larger parts department, and new offices. In 1976, Kent Gregoire, Lloyd’s son, moved south down Hwy 75 to Moorhead and started the second Bert’s location on Highway 10 East in Moorhead. This location quickly expanded with the addition of three service bays and later two paint booths that were installed to paint truck bodies and all equipment installed on chassis’ serviced by Bert’s.
Since its beginning, Bert’s Truck Equipment has undergone many changes and evolutions. In 1995, the company purchased a second location on Highway 75 North in Moorhead to keep up with the expanding workload and to make room for future growth. In the summer of 2004, an addition was added on the shop that included a show room and office space. “And now you know the rest of the story.”
