Sixty to 65 eager Moorhead golfers tested their swings Friday, March 25, when the Village Green Golf Course opened for a one-day preview of coming attractions. But chill temperatures and winds have closed it down again this week.
“We expected to get Village Green opened up Friday (April 1),” Parks and Recreation director Holly Heitkamp reported. “But then the weather changed, so that’s not going to happen.”
Snow had disappeared from the grounds of Village Green by last week, but icy drifts and frozen ponds remained at the Meadows.
“We keep an eye on the temperature and wind,” Heitkamp explained. “What we want to see is temperatures of 45 to 50 degrees and calm — or at least calmer — days.
“If you’re anxious about when you can get out there to get more swings in,” she advised, “just watch the weather.”
