The stores seem to rev up for Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. For me, Thanksgiving is too important to jump over. I like to make a special effort to reflect on all the good things that I have in my life. The past couple years I would simply start on November 1st and Facebook post a daily list of a couple things for which I am grateful. This year, I thought I’d do something different. I stopped by the Moorhead Post Office this morning and bought 100 stamps. I passed over the Rudolph and wreath ones for the Farmers Market ones. This year, I am going to send out 100 notes of appreciation before the end of the year. Some will be personal; some I thought would be on Moorhead’s behalf, as its mayor. 100?! That started to sound like an awful lot. Do I really have 100 persons that I’d like to send a note too? So, as the accountant that I am, I started a spreadsheet… and surprise, a list of 100 was easy… in fact, not enough. And just thinking of it, makes me feel grateful… we live in an amazing community. Join me; by thanking those that you appreciate… it wouldn’t need to be 100, but 1 a week perhaps, or just one today as you think about it. Thank you!
