Eventide’s Sanders Flats near completion

The newest addition to Eventide Senior Living’s campus on Eighth Street South is nearly ready to welcome its first residents.
Sanders Flats borders the Eventide property just south of The Linden, its assisted living center. The four-story apartment building offers a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, all earmarked for active adults 55 and older.
“Sanders Flats is Eventide’s first community completely designed for independent living,” says Carrie Carney, the organization’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Since our beginning in 1951, Eventide has always evolved to meet seniors’ wants and needs. There’s an upcoming population of baby boomers looking for homes like these.”
Eventide broke ground for the Sanders building in August 2022. Since then, Moorheaders have watched the four-story structure rise across 16th Avenue South, tethered to The Linden by a skyway. According to Carney, interior finishing is nearing completion. Two open houses are planned in December, when the first of its residents will begin moving in. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for January.
“When our parents are ready to downsize, they’re often looking for a more manageable home base where they can be both comfortable and active,” Carney observes. “They may live at the lake in summer or go south in the winter, for example, but want a permanent base that’s near health care, an airport or maybe their children and grandchildren. Moving to a community like Moorhead at their stage in life makes sense.”
With no lawn care or snow removal to worry about, future residents of Sanders Flats – she points out – will be free to enjoy their time at home as well as their travels away.
Sanders Flats offers residents a choice of floor plans. One-bedroom units range from 770 to 946 square feet. Two-bedroom, two-bath apartments are about 1,200 square feet. The largest, with three bedrooms and two baths, are slightly under 1,400 square feet. All utilities, cable TV and internet are included. Some units have outdoor patios, and underground parking is available. Rents range from $1,795 to $3,100.
Tenants will have access to a large pub and community room, movie theater, golf simulator, fitness center and self-serve bistro. Meals may be ordered for take-out or delivery from the Eighth Street Eatery at The Linden.
Along with older adults ready to downsize, Carney points out that the Sanders Flats offer a convenient address for those who may have a spouse or loved one living in Eventide’s care units: “They can live independently themselves, but be nearby, just a short, convenient walk over on the skyway.”
