Fargo Police harsher On Texting While Driving
Fargo Police officers worked special shifts this week to address motorists who chose to “Text and Drive.” A total of 17 citations were issued during these special enforcement days and there will be more events like this in the future.
Officers used strategies such as driving unmarked vehicles and standing near intersection crosswalks to catch motorists. In City of Fargo Ordinance 08-0321 ($100 Fine), it’s clear that sending electronic messages (texts, emails, instant messages) and web surfing while driving are prohibited. According to www.distraction.gov, text messaging creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted.
