A new headquarters to be built for MinKo Construction in 2024 was granted a five-year property tax exemption by the Moorhead City Council at its regular meeting Monday.
The exemption was requested by Marla Blakeway of Vision Rentals LLC, which will lease the new 21,000-square-foot facility to the closely related construction business. Now located in Fargo, MinKo is a commercial general contractor that performs demolition work, rough carpentry, finish carpentry and some structural steel erection. Their clients include public school districts, universities, churches, rental facilities and office complexes.
The site and building plans will include an office area with conference room and bathrooms, shop area with overhead doors, and warehouse space. The facility will be a pre- engineered metal building by Gateway Building Systems with metal panel and stone finishes.
The building will be located in the MCCARA Industrial Area at 4111 34 Ave. S., directly southwest of the Rigel warehouse.
Once it is completed in December 2024, the building’s value is projected to be $1,600,000. That qualifies it for the five-year property tax exemption, expected to total $128,000.
