You’re invited to spend the day with industry experts as they address today’s most pressing small business challenges. Attend panel discussions and workshops for strategies and techniques to start, grow, expand and transition your business. Boxed lunch and refreshments included in registration fee.

Books & Beer Book Club, 7:00 pm @ Moorhead Billiards at 701 Center Ave. Join us to discuss “Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History” by Keith O’Brien at Moorhead Billiards in Moorhead. Light appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Moorhead Library. Participants are welcome to purchase beverages and additional food items.

MSUM School of Media Arts & Design Juried Film and Animation Exhibition, 7:00 pm @ Glasrud Auditorium at MSUM. The School of Media Arts & Design at MSUM presents student films, videos, animation, interactive and design exhibitions created during the semester. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday, May 11:
Daughters of Norway Meeting, 10:00 am @ Bethesda Lutheran Church at 401 40th Ave. S. Join us in celebrating Syttende Mai with games, crafts, and parade. Refreshments served. Visitors welcome. Free.

Find-a-Hobby: Gardening, 2:00 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. Just in time for summer gardening, the Find-a-Hobby series is here to help you start your best garden yet. Join Master Gardener Gloria as she shares tips and tricks to help you get started on your own or with other enthusiasts. Free.

Not Another Teen Book Club, 3:00 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. Maureen Johnson utilizes her signature sense of humor to craft a contemporary mystery, “Truly Devious.” This story takes place in the Ellingham Academy, a Vermont private school and Not Another Teen Book Club is on the case. All are welcome for snacks and discussion. Free.

MSUM School of Media Arts & Design Graphic Communications Juried Presentations, 7:00 pm @ Comstock Memorial Union at MSUM. MSUM’s School of Media Arts & Design presents Graphic Communications’ Senior Juried Final Project Presentations. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Ask a Techspert, 2:00 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. Come to an open computer lab to practice your technology skills. Staff will be available to assist and answer your questions. Free.

MBA’s 702 Communications Data Center Tour, 3:00 pm @ 702 Communications at 2911 Fiechtner Dr. in Fargo. Join us for a tour at 702 Communications to learn about their new data center, serving Internet/transport carriers, as well as retail customers in Fargo/Moorhead. Appetizers and refreshments including beer and wine will be served. The first 50 people that arrive to the tent will receive a RTIC mug.

Tuesday, May 14:
Plant & Seed Exchange, 5:30 pm @ Heritage Garden & Amphitheater – Woodlawn Park at 400 Woodlawn Dr. This outdoor event will feature a plant and seed exchange, instructional booths, and refreshments, and is free and open to the public. Bring some things, take some things. For example, if you bring 2 plants, take 2 plants. No invasive or non-labeled plants.

Composition Basics with the Red River Watercolor Society, 7:00 pm @ First Presbyterian Church of Moorhead at 2900 5th St. S. Area artist, Sandra Miles, will lead attendees in a short refresher on composition basics at our final monthly program meeting of this season. Free.

Moorhead High Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Awards & Senior Recognition Night, 7:30 pm @ Moorhead High School.

Wednesday, May 15:
MBA’s Let’s Talk Business, 7:30 am @ Fryn’ Pan Family Restaurant. Speaker: Brandon Lunak, Moorhead Area Public School Superintendent with an update on the High School and the Career Center.

Human Rights Commission Meeting, 5:00 pm @ City Hall.

River Paddling Excursions, 6:00 pm @ Hjemkomst Center Landing. If you like to canoe or kayak and would like to learn more about the Red River, join us this summer for paddling excursions. Take a relaxing downtown river tour as local guest speakers share their expertise on educational topics. The topic for May 15 is “History of the Red River.” $10-$15.
