Shannon Thompson

Empty agricultural herbicide and pesticide containers will be collected:

· At the Clay County Landfill, 3301 190thSt S, Hawley

· Monday, August 28th through Friday, September 1st

· 8:00am- 4:00pm each day

The empty herbicide and pesticide container collection is for empty agricultural containers from Clay County farmers.

· Containers must be ridged high density polyethylene (HDPE)

· Containers must be triple rinsed

· Labels must be removed

· Caps must be removed

· Containers must be free of residue

· If possible, string the containers together

· Containers up to 55 gallons will be taken at no charge

Farmers are encouraged to drop off containers at the collection for recycling rather than disposing of the containers by other methods. The empty containers are “chipped”, and the plastic is recycled. The containers are made from high density polyethylene or HDPE. HDPE is commonly recycled into furniture, toys, and garbage and recycling bins.
