Ben Hammer is tossing his hat into the ring as a candidate for the Moorhead City Council. He is seeking to unseat incumbent Laura Caroon, who is completing her first term as Ward 2’s representative. Caroon ran unopposed in 2020, when she was elected to her present position. She has not announced her plans.
Hammer and his family have lived in Moorhead since 2005. Originally from Fergus Falls, he worked for Eide Bailly for 11 years before moving to Doosan Bobcat North American, where he is leads the procurement category of Ignite Attachments.
“I want to be involved with the city and help drive it in the right economic direction,” he says. “I am passionate about downtown revitalization – both in pushing current projects and supporting new ones that can continue to make this community a good place to live.”
Hammer graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in zoology. His wife, Caren, is lead embryologist with Sanford Health. They have two children, Alissa, 12, and Ashlee, 11.
