Authorities warn local hotels

of suspect impersonating pool inspector

FARGO, N.D.– Local hotel employees are encouraged to be on the watch for a male who is impersonating a City of Fargo pool inspector. The suspect visited two Fargo hotels yesterday claiming to be a pool inspector. After inspecting the hotel pools, the suspect told the employees that the pools had failed the inspections but he could repair the violations for a fee. Authorities would like to remind the public that while the City of Fargo does inspect public pools, inspectors do not make repairs or hire contractors to make repairs.

Anyone with information about this individual is asked to contact the City of Fargo Environmental Health Office at 701-241-1388.

A New Home in a New Community:

New American panel discuss moving from

the homes they left for their new homes in the FM area

On Sunday, January 4, at 2:00 pm the Historical and Cultural Society is hosting A New Home in a New Community, a panel discussion with New Americans in our community.

The discussion will focus on several New Americans as they share their stories from the homes they left behind, and their new homes created in our community. Each panel member will give a brief presentation, and there will be time for questions. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Along with this presentation, enjoy the House & Home exhibit in the main gallery. NEH presents an exploration of homes throughout various points in history and culture in America, from army barracks to two-story colonials. The exhibit allows us to explore the meanings of where and how we live from home furnishings to constructions materials and many other aspects that make up not only a house but also a home.

House & Home was organized by The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. and curated by Sarah Leavitt, Curator, The National Building Museum. House & Home has been made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It has been adapted and is being toured by Mid-America Arts Alliance. Founded in 1972, Mid-America Arts Alliance is the oldest regional nonprofit arts organization in the United States. For more information, visit www.maaa.org or www.nehontheroad.org.
