“THE NIGHT BEFORE GETTYSBURG” REENACTMENT SCHEDULED
MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Public Library will host a historical reenactment of Abraham Lincoln the night before his famous Gettysburg address, including a performance, history lesson and question-and-answer session all rolled into one educational experience. The program will feature a performance of “The Night Before Gettysburg” written and performed by Chuck Johnson of Perham, Minnesota. Johnson wrote the one-act play for a contest in Wadena and was soon tracked down by Destination Gettysburg inviting him to perform in Pennsylvania. He’s given Abraham Lincoln reenactment performances in Gettysburg every year since and now he’s bringing the show to the Moorhead Public Library, giving a powerful portrayal of Lincoln’s struggles with slavery, racism, war, and the deaths of his two children.
The program is offered free-of-charge and will be held Thursday, February 20 at 6 p.m. at the Moorhead Public Library.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH GENEALOGY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED
MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Public Library will host a presentation and workshop exploring the complexities of African-American genealogy research on Saturday, Feb. 22, offered in partnership with the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County (HCSCC) and featuring genealogy expert Elyse Hill.

Minnesota genealogist Rick Crume and other volunteers will be on hand to assist attendees with their research and the library will offer a limited number of Chromebooks for use. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops or other devices.
The workshop is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the Moorhead Public Library, 118 5th St. S., and is made possible by donor and sponsor support of the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County.
