GOOSEBERRY PARK PLAYERS TO RETURN FOR 2025 SEASON
MOORHEAD – Gooseberry Park Players (GPP) will perform in the Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre at Concordia College for its 43rd season in 2025, renewing a partnership that began decades ago.
“GPP is thrilled to make our heartfelt return to Concordia for our production of Shrek the Musical,” said Scott Brusven, managing artistic director. “We are so grateful to Concordia College Theater for welcoming us back to campus.”
Although Concordia College was GPP’s longtime home until the 2013 season, the organization has performed at other Moorhead venues since then. “Horizon Middle School was a wonderful location for our students over the past four years,” said Dean Froslie, GPP board president. “We thank Moorhead Area Public Schools for being such a willing community partner with GPP.”
“Concordia has a special place in GPP’s history and this year’s students will add to the legacy,” Brusven added. “The campus is a great setting for our educational focus, and the Comstock Theatre offers an intimate environment and many artistic options.”
CLAY COUNTY ANNOUNCES MAJOR GRANT AWARD TO LAUNCH FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
MOORHEAD – Clay County Board of Commissioners and Clay County Social Services announces a significant step forward in supporting local families with the receipt of $795,820 in grant funding to establish a Family Resource Center (FRC) in the community. This funding comes from two key sources: a $687,500 grant over three years from the Minnesota Department of Health, and a $108,320 grant over two years from the Sauer Family Foundation. These grants will enable a collective of community partners, local nonprofit, and Clay County, to create a network of support, resources, and services designed to strengthen families and build a healthier, more connected community.
In July 2023, Creating Community Consulting was contracted by Clay County Social Services to begin the pre-implementation phase of developing the Family Resource Center, which aims to support all families in Clay County by providing access to essential services, peer support, and resources that promote overall family well-being. Through this phase, a local Core Team was established of nonprofit partners, community advocates, and service providers. Recently on November 14, this group held a gathering sharing the work plan of how the community will move forward in implementing this network approach with around 60 attendees.
