MOORHEAD AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY IN ACTION
MOORHEAD – Moorhead American Legion Auxiliary Unit 21 learned there was a need for clothing, hygiene products, backpacks, school supplies and food at the Moorhead Horizon Middle School for homeless students.
They met with Kayla Stone, counselor at Horizon to help fill The Spud Mart store with these items. They learned that some of the items would be given out on that Friday to those requesting them.
The Unit 21Auxiliary supports Veterans and their families. If you have a father, grandfather, or brother who have or are currently serving in the military you are eligible to become an Auxiliary member. Applications are available at the Moorhead Legion, or call Becky Olson at 2l8-790-5l33.
RIDE FREE WITH FOOD DONATION
This December, MATBUS is presenting the second annual Season of Giving. Each Saturday in December, passengers can ride any MATBUS fixed route for FREE when they donate a non-perishable food item on board the bus. This promotion will not apply to MAT Paratransit.
Each week, the donations will be collected, weighed, and brought to the Emergency Food Pantry. Your donations will have a positive and direct impact on our community, helping our neighbors in need. In 2023, MATBUS passengers donated more than 500 lb of food.
GATE CITY BANK SHOWS WARM SUPPORT FOR VETERANS
For the third consecutive year, Gate City Bank was honored to partner with American Red Cross of Eastern North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota on the “Quilts for Veterans” project, which brings care and comfort to area veterans through the warmth of quilts.
The bank invited local quiltmakers to drop off their donations at any of its locations between September 11 and November 30. Leading up to Christmas, the Red Cross planned to distribute the quilts to VA hospitals, veterans’ homes and other locations across the Red River Valley.
“We’re proud to continue this valued project supporting our brave veterans and all they’ve given to defend our freedom,” said Karin Luchsinger, Gate City Bank’s Senior Vice President of Checking & Customer Engagement. “Providing beautiful quilts like these to help keep them warm is just one of many ways we can express our gratitude for their service.”
