MOORHEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HIGHLIGHT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR VETERANS
MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Public Library will host an informational presentation by Prairie St. John’s to offer insight on the impact of mental health on veterans and their families, as well as the mental health services that are available for veterans in our community. The program will be held Monday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moorhead Public Library, 118 5th St. S. The presentation is offered as part of One Book, One Community, which includes a series of programs offering perspective into this year’s selected title, The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger.
Many of the characters in The River We Remember are veterans and the book illustrates the continuing aftermath of their experiences at war. Learn more at 1book1community.org.

DRUG INVESTIGATION LEADS TO FELONY ARRESTS
MOORHEAD – The ongoing investigation leads to the arrest of three adult males transporting illegal drugs from the Minneapolis / St. Paul area and distributing them in our area.
Based on an investigation that began in July of 2024, information was obtained that an organization had been actively transporting illegal drugs from the Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area to Moorhead, where they would distribute them. On Tuesday, October 22, investigators were able to stop the two males in a vehicle as they were approaching the Moorhead area. During the stop, methamphetamine and fentanyl were seized. Later, a search warrant was conducted in Moorhead, where additional quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and hallucinogenic mushrooms were seized.
In total, (215) grams of methamphetamine, (28) grams of fentanyl powder, (342) M30 fentanyl pills, (4) grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, a collection of rare coins, and approximately $1,450 of US Currency were seized. The street value is estimated at $20,000.
David White, 45, of St. Paul, MN, Martin White, 54, of St. Paul, MN, and Mark Watson, 57, of Moorhead, MN, were arrested on felony drug charges for possession and distribution. They were transported to the Clay County Correctional Facility.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Moorhead Police Department. The investigation is active, and more arrests are expected.

FREE ADMISSION FOR VETERANS AT HJEMKOMST MUSEUM
MOORHEAD – The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County announces that admission will be free on Monday November 11, 2024, for all US Military Veterans. Originally the holiday was named Armistice Day and is on November 11 as this was the day that formal hostilities ended between the Western Entente, including the United States, and the German Empire. In 1954, Congress formally changed the name to Veterans Day and since then it has become the day to remember those who either survived armed conflict or served during times of peace.
The HCSCC is also a Blue Star Museum, meaning any active-duty military personnel and their family members can enter the museum for free all year. To learn more about the Blue Star Museums program and other participating organizations, visit www.arts.gov/initiatives/blue-star-museums.

30th ANNUAL PANGEA – CULTIVATE OUR CULTURES FESTIVAL
MOORHEAD – The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is excited to announce that Pangea – Cultivate our Cultures returns for its thirtieth anniversary on Saturday November 16. The public is welcome to attend this multicultural family-friendly event. The festival runs from 10am to 4pm and is free to enter.
Since 1994 Pangea – Cultivate our Cultures has brought people from different backgrounds and communities from across the Red River Valley together to celebrate the diversity of the region. Originally, the festival was just called Cultivate Our Cultures and was started by Yoke-Sim Gunaratne, Executive Director of Cultural Diversity Resources; it, has been hosted at the Hjemkomst Center since 2005. Over the past thirty years, the event has become a community staple in the Fargo – Moorhead area.
Live entertainment will be present at this year’s festival. Starting at 10am and running until 4pm, dancers and musicians from the area will showcase their cultures different customs. Groups performing include Fargo Spelemannslag, Dances of India, and Fargo Folklorico. In addition to these performances, an international fashion show will take place at 1pm where performers will highlight their different cultural costumes and garbs. The public is also welcomed to participate in the show as well and wear traditional and ancestral attire.
Fifteen different nations and social groups will be represented at the event. Each booth will have stickers representing their nation or group that can be collected in our Pangea Passports. Participants collecting all fifteen flags will be able to get a special Pangea sticker from event organizers.
Parking at the Hjemkomst Center is limited. Visitors should plan to park either across the street at the American Crystal Sugar or the former Herberger’s ramp and walk over at the light. There will also be a free LINK bus circulating.
