MOORHEAD’S SOUTH PARK WADING POOL UPDATE
The pool has been closed since the beginning of the season.
MOORHEAD – The City of Moorhead Parks and Recreation Department announces the closure of the neighborhood wading pool at South Park, located near Ellen Hopkins School. This decision comes after determining that the pool, a 1950s era structure, is beyond reasonable repair due to persistent leaks and failing concrete and must be demolished.
The Park Advisory Board will review long-range planning for aquatics in Moorhead at its August meeting; however, South Park Pool is built on property owned by Moorhead Area Public Schools and a new wading pool at that location may not be possible. This plan is anticipated to also include investments in the city’s 1980s-era wading pools located at Riverview Estates Park, Ridgewood Park, Village Green Park, and Hansmann Park.

UPCOMING PARKING AND ACCESS ADJUSTMENTS TO CITY HALL AND MOORHEAD CENTER MALL

MOORHEAD – Beginning July 15, private utility work will commence at the Moorhead Center Mall that will affect parking availability in the area north of City Hall. During this work, available parking within the construction area will be limited.
Pedestrian access to the current entrances to the Mall/City Hall will still be accessible. Vehicle access will be maintained between the east and northwest parking areas throughout the duration of the project. Parking within the construction area will be made available as work allows.
This work is expected to be completed August 9, 2024.
