MOORHEAD TRAFFIC ALERTS
Starting Monday, May 20, 4 Ave South, 5 Ave South & 6 St South construction projects will begin. This project will consist of pavement improvements to the roadway, curb & gutter replacement, sidewalk & ADA improvements, and water main replacement.
Phase 1 of the construction project is anticipated to commence work at 7am on Monday, May 20th. Per the contractor’s schedule, this phase of work is anticipated to last for approximately 4 weeks, dependent on weather and other coordination factors. Residents are allowed to park on surrounding streets; we ask that you please do not park directly adjacent to the excavation or removal areas or any signage in the area to help alleviate any congestion in the area during this phase of construction.
Construction hours will be between 7am and 7pm. Garbage and recycling collection will continue as normally scheduled during all phases of construction.
14 St N, 16 St N, and 6 Ave N Underground Utility and Street Improvements
Phase 1 of construction began on Monday, May 6 on project 24-A2-04 which affects 14 St N, 16 St N, and 6 Ave N for Underground Utility and Street Improvements. This project will consist of full depth pavement replacement and/or mill and overlay of the roadway, curb & gutter replacement, sidewalk & ADA improvements, and underground utility improvements. Per the contractor’s schedule, this phase of work is anticipated to last for 4-5 weeks, dependent on weather and other coordination factors.
Properties that are located within Phase 1 in a “REHABILITATION” area will lose direct access to their street and driveway during this construction phase. We ask that all affected addresses please utilize adjacent street and avenue parking locations outside of the designated construction area.
Properties that are located within Phase 1 in a “MILL & OVERLAY” area may lose access to their driveway depending on the replacement schedule (if due for replacement), but for a short time. The street will remain open to residents for parking and access to their homes through the duration of the project.
Construction hours will be between 7am and 7pm. Garbage collection will continue as normally scheduled during this phase of construction.
If in a “REHABILITATION” area, leave garbage at end of driveway as normal. The contractor will pick up the garbage bin, bring to end of the block for disposal and return to the resident’s driveway when done. We suggest labeling your garbage bins with your name and address so bins are brought back to the correct address. Garbage trucks will still be able to access “MILL & OVERLAY” areas.
In addition to the City project, Xcel Energy will be in the area to perform a gas main replacement project (Xcel Energy’s contractor completing this work is Q3 Contracting). This work is private utility work and is independent of the City’s project in the area. The project manager for Xcel Energy on this project is Tom Berseth (701-640-1406, Thomas.M.Berseth@xcelenergy.com). Please reach out to Tom if you have any questions or concerns regarding their work.
In addition to Xcel Energy, Moorhead Public Service Water Department (MPS) will be in the area to perform a watermain replacement project. This work is also considered private utility work and is independent of the City’s project in the area. The project manager for MPS on this project is Jake Long (218-477-8074, JLong@mpsutility.com).
