Juneteenth schedule changes

City of Moorhead offices will be closed for Juneteenth on Monday, June 19 and reopen on Tuesday, June 20. 

Monday (June 19) garbage and recycling routes will be collected on Tuesday. All other routes from Tuesday through Friday will be collected on the regularly scheduled day. Please be aware the shift in route schedules may cause early or delayed collection this week; set your trash out by 4 am to ensure it is collected. 

The City of Moorhead Garbage Transfer Station will also be closed on June 19.

MATBUS and MAT Paratransit will operate as scheduled on June 19.

MOORHEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HOST OUTDOOR CONCERT JUNE 25

MOORHEAD – Don’t miss a free performance featuring Kathie Brekke & the 42nd Street Jazz Band, playing familiar and fun music in an unforgettable concert held outside the Moorhead Public Library. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating. Admission is offered free-of-charge. The concert is open to the public and will be held on Sunday, June 25 from 4-6 p.m. in the library’s parking lot. 

Additional offerings for all ages will be available during the event, including activities hosted by the Rourke Art Museum and the Friends of the Moorhead Public Library. Local food trucks and other vendors will be available. This family-friendly event is made possible thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

20 ST S TO CLOSE BETWEEN 12 AVE S AND 24 AVE S FOR REPAIRS

Starting Monday, June 12, 20 St S will be closed between 12 Ave S and 24 Ave S for pavement repair. 20 St S traffic will be detoured onto 11 St via 12 Ave S and 24 Ave S.  This work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks; the road should re-open to traffic by June 23, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect delays in the area and are encouraged to take alternate routes.

LIBRARIES PRESENT PODCASTING WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH 

MOORHEAD – Join your library for a fun interactive experience allowing kids to make a live story podcast! Ed Jenkins, creator and executive producer of PBS KIDS new podcast, “Keshawn Solves It,”  will share how to create your own one-of-a-kind wacky story podcast. This program is appropriate for a wide range of ages including children in PreK-6th grade. 

Jenkins will offer podcasting workshops at the Hawley Public Library on Wednesday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m., and at the Moorhead Public Library on Saturday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. This program is offered free-of-charge and is made possible thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund through an appropriation from the Legacy amendment.

MSU MOORHEAD WAIVES APPLICATION FEE JUNE 26-30  

MOORHEAD – Minnesota State University Moorhead will waive its $20 application fee for campus visitors as part of Minnesota State Week June 26-June 30.  

The MSUM campus is open to showcase the university by creating personalized visits that meet students’ needs, whether it’s one-on-one or small group in-person visits, online conversations, or meetings with faculty. The application fee will be waived when students visit and apply during the week.  

“Waiving the application fee is one way MSUM works to lower the cost of applying and making it easier to get information about Minnesota State University Moorhead,” said Jamie Wepking, Assistant Director of Admissions.

MOORHEAD HIGH CLASS OF 1973 50TH REUNION
