This week, the Mayor and City Council approved a property tax exemption for another multi-family housing project. The project is operated by South Shore Landing, LLC to construct a 65 unit complex located at 2790 40th street south. This project includes a “tuck under” style parking arrangement, a community room, billiards room, and upgraded amenities. It is another great example that Moorhead continues to grow on many levels. Additional rooftops generate new business in commercial and industrial activity and vice versa. The City appreciates South Shore’s commitment to adding much needed housing to Moorhead.
I had the opportunity to visit and tour the former Masonic Lodge at 817 Center Avenue earlier this week. Nancy Aughinbaugh, owner of Kvamme Travel has embarked on the redevelopment project of the historic building to turn it into office spaces. Seeing reinvestment from a small business owner is so neat and often may get mixed in the shuffle of large redevelopment projects. Personally, I have a passion for the revitalization of old, blighted buildings when they can be repurposed into a symbol of energy and growth for a renewed momentum in downtown. Cheers to Nancy for taking the project on!
See you around town!
