A new budget

I am glad Obama has unveiled a new budget proposal, we certainly need a good budget to follow, however, this one looks more like a Democratic “Wish List.” Higher taxes on the rich again? The rich people are paying most of the taxes in the United States now, start stacking more on and many will move off shore and pay no taxes.

MORE spending on anti-poverty programs and research? Remember, we have almost half of the people in the US NOT paying taxes, and any research should be done what we could accomplish with less government spending. Of course Republicans are not excited about the new budget, they think it is irresponsible, what do you expect them to say?

We have a lot of problems and they are not going away by themselves, like a sluggish economy that’s not creating enough good jobs. Large annual budget deficits left over from the recession and rising healthcare costs that could cause the deficit to grow uncontrollably in the not-too-distant future. Of course our military spending is just an incredible and insane amount. Our government keeps scaring us to death in order to keep all those military contractors rolling in money. They get a bid to build and fighter jet for a million or billion and then it costs a TRILLION… that’s not much of an exaggeration either.

Just how long is our economy going to have problems? Look at how many people remain unemployed and how important a growing economy would be.

I am NOT anti-Obama… I just think that Obama’s problem is that so many of his ideas for promoting growth, such as spending more on education and training, overhauling U.S. immigration law and extending unemployment benefits and his run at Clunkers and bail-outs have done little to get our economy moving in the right direction.

As long as Democrats want to turn us into a liberal, welfare and freebies society, and as long as the Republicans can’t come up with a “Likable and charismatic” businessman.

This $3.9 trillion dollar budget has a couple good things… One is to expand the tax credit for individual low-income workers without children. Republicans invented that earned income tax credit as an alternative to welfare payments, and unlike some other benefit programs, it gives participants a financial incentive to work their way out of poverty. Although Republicans won’t like how Obama proposes to pay for it … you guessed it, by raising taxes on hedge fund managers and some self-employed individuals.

I’m sorry, but someone in the higher-up part of our government better come up with some good ideas in the near future, because if not… we are going to crash and burn.
