Organizers of the just-completed Babe Ruth 14YO Tournament in Moorhead are still flying high.
The tournament was “phenomenal. Frankly, it felt like something out of a movie. We had no major hiccups and all the teams involved said they would come back to Moorhead in a heartbeat if they ever have the chance,” Devlyn Brooks, one of the planners said.
Teams who played in the 27 games that ended on Sunday appreciated the big Moorhead welcome and hospitality.
The Moorhead Black team came in second, so the team from Bismarck will go on to the Babe Ruth World Series in Westfield, Mass.
The community won high praise for the quality of the baseball fields at Matson Field and Burgau Field.
“Ultimately, we were supported by more than a dozen local businesses, and dozens and dozens of volunteers who did everything from serve food at the banquet, to work concessions or the gates at our fields, or volunteered to help run the skill competition for the players. It was a truly amazing community effort, and I'm so very proud of Moorhead for extending its hand and heart to these teams that came from all over the Midwest to visit our little spot of heaven,” Brooks said.
