Backstage Benefit Concert featuring Maura Ferguson & Natasha Thomas:

Join Empire Theatre Company alums and community theater veterans, Maura Ferguson and Natasha Thomas, for a very special Backstage Project! Rhombus Guys will provide a cash bar and coffee is courtesy of Urban Stampede.

As part of the Giving Hearts Day valley-wide fundraising event, proceeds from this event go to the Empire Arts Center Backstage Project.

REACH Giving Hearts Day Event:

Location: Garrick Theater in Hawley, MN

Date: Feb 12

Time: 8:00am – 8:00pm

REACH will be hosting a family-friendly community event at the Garrick Theater on Thursday, February 12 to coincide with Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event. All events are free. Computers will be available for those interested in making a donation to REACH. Donations of $10 or more will be multiplied through a match by generous local donors. All are invited to stop by at your convenience!

8-10am: Coffee & Donuts

10am: Bingo

11-1:30pm: Pulled Pork lunch (Take out boxes will be available!)

11:00-1:30pm: Viewing of A Place at the Table, a documentary featuring families receiving federal food assistance and panel discussion featuring hunger locally and beyond.

3-6:00pm: Kid-centered activities

6:30-8pm: Coffee, Dessert and Fashion Show, featuring Dress for Success Red River Valley

Red River Valley Veterans Concert Band:

Location: Edgewood Vista in Fargo

The Red River Valley Veterans Concert Band will perform a free concert for residents and guests at Edgewood Vista. The concert band’s mission is to promote patriotism through music. The 50 pc band will perform a variety of music.

“The Metal Children”:

Location: Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre at Concordia College

Based on playwright Adam Rapp’s own experiences with the banning of his novel in Reading, Penn., the show examines moral duty and the role of censorship in literature for today’s youth.

Shanren in Concert:

Location: The Ember in Grand Forks

Experience the joyful music of Shanren: literally “mountain men.” Hailing from ethnic minority groups who live in the beautiful mountains of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, this Chinese folk-fusion band presents the rich but largely unknown heritage of Southwestern China.

Go Pink with the Dragon:

Location: Nemzek Fieldhouse at Minnesota State University Moorhead

The 8th Annual Go Pink with the Dragons is scheduled on Friday, February 13, 2015. The Dragon’s Women’s Basketball team, led by Head Coach Karla Nelson, sponsors Go Pink with the Dragons as a community service to educate and raise awareness about the importance of screening for breast cancer and other cancers. This event also raises funds for the MSUM Go Pink Scholarship and the Sanford Health Roger Maris Cancer Center.

I Love You Just Like This Storytime:

The Ralph’s Community Skate 2015:

It’s that time again! REA is hosting the 2015 Community Skate held in both the Olympic rink as well as the Main Bowl. Please enter in the Olympic Arena. The arena will not be providing skate rental, but Gerrells is offering rentals in its store.

The Great Gatsby– Movie:

Aspiring writer Nick Carraway falls under the spell of millionaire Jay Gatsby as he helps connect Gatsby with Carraway’s unhappily married cousin. From the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Enjoy this 2013 version of the movie with free popcorn on your holiday; then check out the classic novel in one of West Fargo Public Library’s other available formats! Drop off kids 9 and older at Lego Mania next door to the movie!

Pints for Pads for Kenya:

Location: The Fargo Brewing Co.

Join us to help make sanitary pads for girls in rural Kenya, you can sew, cut fabric, package pads or just drink beer to support the project; bring a sewing machine to make pads or consider bringing a donation of pre-washed flannel, PUL, colorful girls’ panties in size medium or large or cash/check, proceeds benefit the Faraja Family Resource Center in Chogoria, Kenya.
