MATBUS Fixed Route Service
Beginning in January 2014, the City of Moorhead approved a bus route agreement and began operations of MATBUS Fixed Route service in the City of Dilworth. Dilworth is interested in continuing this service in 2015, in addition to continuing the complementary services of Metro Senior Ride and MAT Paratransit for persons with disabilities. The City of Moorhead’s grant applications to the State of Minnesota again included these operating costs and funding was approved by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The agreement provides for Dilworth reimbursement of costs to continue the route and reflects Dilworth’s share of costs for complementary service to persons with disabilities and senior citizens through support of MAT Paratransit and Metro Senior Ride.
The City of Dilworth agreed to provide the local share to the State grant awarded. All related expenses and revenues were included in the proposed 2015 Mass Transit budget. No additional funds are required from the City of Moorhead. Sufficient vehicles are available, with eight of ten transit coaches in service during peak hours. When vehicle replacement is necessary, it was recommended that Dilworth participate in a portion of the local share match for the capital purchase.
Moorhead agreed to provide daily bus service at the agreed
Rate of $70.17 per bus hour for approximately 1,816.5 hours, and Dilworth agreed that they are responsible for a maximum contribution to support the bus service.
In addition, Moorhead agreed to provide service to senior citizens age 60 and older who reside in Dilworth. It was also agreed that Dilworth is responsible for a maximum contribution to support Metro Senior Ride service for their residents and visitors.
Moorhead Council Approved the 2015 Diversion Authority Budget
As a member of the Diversion Authority, the Council approved the 2015 Diversion Authority budget. It was pointed out that no City of Moorhead funds were requested for the 2015 program budget per the Limited Joints Powers Agreement (LPJA). Under the current LPJA, and its amendments, the City of Moorhead’s financial contributions have been expressly limited to the amounts previously paid by the city. The FY2015 budget approved by the Diversion Authority is for $211M, and will be financed by State of North Dakota appropriations, Fargo and Cass County sales taxes, and a bank loan. A copy of the FY2015 Diversion Authority budget, including an overview of sources and uses of funds and a cumulative spending report, can be viewed on the city’s website.

Recycle Your Holidays
The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) is conducting their annual RECYCLE YOUR HOLIDAYS program right here in the City of Moorhead! The event takes place NOW until JANUARY 30, 2015.
You can bring your old or non-working holiday lights to 2 locations and drop them off for FREE:
1. Moorhead Ace Hardware (20 6th Street South, Moorhead, MN)
2. City of Moorhead Garbage Transfer Station (2727 Hwy 10 E, Moorhead, MN)
Recycle Your Holidays is the only holiday light recycling program of its kind in the country. RAM provides the collection bins and collection services to recycle holiday lights during the holiday season. Vocational centers and their clients are contracted by RAM to provide the pick-up service and sort the thousands of pounds of holiday lights for the program each winter. The sale of the holiday light material pays the wages of the clients of the vocational center who are individuals with disabilities.
This year’s MN-wide goal is to recycle 100,000 pounds of holiday lights. Please help the City of Moorhead lead the way!

The presentation will focus on the many things that went into the construction and architecture of the home, as well as the artifacts and the family, which left a strong impression on the Moorhead community. Presentation is free and open to the public.
