Chocolate Brownie Trifle

Wow! We have had a whirlwind Thanksgiving weekend with family from MO and WI coming to celebrate the wedding of our granddaughter Kylie Morton to Ryan Cook. Our son, Paul and family from MO are hosting an exchange student from Germany for the school year and he enjoyed all of the festivities of the grooms supper, wedding and reception. He fit in very well with the celebration and even danced at the reception, he is a very polite and poised 17 year old. We look forward to attending his high school graduation in MO along with our grandson in May. We have nine granddaughters with seven of them left to be married. It is times like this when I have to remind myself how blessed we are to have so many friends and relatives to join in the festivities.

This week’s recipe is Chocolate Brownie Trifle. I am not sure how to pronounce “trifle” with a long or a short “i”? Any suggestions? I will prepare this for the Advent by Candlelight dessert and program at our church. Instead of making the brownie recipe listed I will use a brownie mix to save time. You may use sweetened whipped cream for the mousse instead of Cool Whip.

Chocolate Brownie Trifle

1 Cup butter

2 Cups sugar

4 Eggs

1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla

1/2 Cup cocoa

1 1/3 Cups flour

1/2 Teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Add dry ingredients, do not over-beat. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until done. Cool completely and cut into one inch squares.
